A.S.M.O. live at Stench VI pt.3

excerpt via pineapster:
"ASMO (Anti Social Musik Order) is the ‘circuit bending’ project of artist and musician Stu Smith. He works with self made instruments custom built from the modified circuits of electronic toys, keyboards and other discarded gadgets. His work explores the sonic landscape of ‘circuit bent’ instruments and their integration into existing modular synthesizer systems. He writes and performs with the groups Threep and The Buoys and has performed at concerts and festivals across the UK, Europe and New York."

15.4.2010 Drumsynth building workshop LEIPZIG

via LeafAudio on this electro-music.com thread

"15.04.2010 - 6-9 pm _ LEIPZIG

In this workshop we build the Bumsss! It is a simple drum-synthesizer like from the old days. It has a built in contact microphone. If you hit the box, a decay-envelope is triggered that controls the amp and pitch of the machine. Or you trigger it by external devices such as modular synths. An LFO offers triangle or square waves for modulating the pitch. Besides the oscillator you can use a noise for creating sounds. There are some more interesting features, you'll be surprised. Please bring your soldering iron! It's good to have a little soldering experience, but if not you'll learn it here.

The fee of 75 Euro has to be paid cash and includes all material like cirquit board, parts and casing exept poti-knobs.

Tristan Perich - Interval Studies, Sound Tool 2010

YouTube via MediaArtTube
"Interval Studies is a formal look at musical intervals as a dense continuum of microtonal pitch, expressed en masse as discrete 1-bit frequencies distributed across hundreds of individual speakers.

Some fun trivia: For those wondering what Muff Wiggler is, Muff's Forum has become THE forum for boutique modular gear. Users and manufacturers are active on the forum and many manufactures have their own sub-forums. It is run by Mike McGrath and originally started as a blog back on November 23rd of 2006. The first time I announced Muff Wiggler was back on December 4th, 2006 in this post. Prior to that I put up two posts featuring Mike, one on July 10th, 2006 and one on July 18th, 2006. Note in the modular world there are boutique manufacturers that sell pre-assembled modules, some that sell both modules and kits, and then those that design modules and provide schematics and instructions for the DIY crowd. I think the crown for the longest/oldest running company would be PAiA, who just started selling module kits again. Note Muff's forum has a DIY section, however the bulk of DIY seems to be on the electro-music.com forums along with probably the biggest Clavia Nord Modular forum.

Hands Off @ Ether Festival - April 2010

hands off logo

Hands Off has quickly grown into a thousand-hand, all embracing, theremin convergence of players, builders, and aficionados from across Great Britain and the globe.

This year will feature performances by
Lydia Kavina,
who will also give a talk and master class,
and ThereminWorld Memebers(!):
Chris Conway,
Alexander Thomas,
and Beat Frequency,
aka Gordon Charlton, founder-director-publicist-&-handyman of Hands Off.

There will be a
Theremin Cello duet
too, and a Grand Finale of twenty thereminists!

A public interactive theremin installation will up up for the week.
The installation uses 16 custom built theremins by
Fred Mundell of
Fundamental Designs Ltd.

I couldn't possibly thank and congratulate GordonC (and Mrs. GordonC too I'm sure!) enough for Hands Off. It has become a major and inspiring theremin event and has been the most consistent and fastest growing festival for the theremin.
