The Top 100 DJs In The World – 2010 List

Armin Van Buuren tops the 2010 list of the Top 100 Djs in the world, as compiled by DJ Mag. Van Buuren beat out David Guetta, Tiësto, Deadmau5 and Above & Beyond for the top position.
For Van Buuren, it’s his fourth year at the top.
“It’s pretty obvious when you’ve been voted top for three years that at some point you have to come down,” says Van Buuren. “But, obviously, it’s a people’s vote, and I’m not going to lie and say I wouldn’t like to win it again.”
Check out the full list below. Unfortunately – you can play the “Where’s Waldo” of the Top 100 DJ List by looking for a woman on the list. And how many DJs on the list can you find that say they aren’t DJs?
As always, you can vent your thoughts on this year’s list in the comments.

Deadmau5 On Today’s DJs – “I Don’t Get It!”

There are some artists that won’t open up and actually say anything in interviews.
And then there’s Joel Zimmerman, aka Deadmau5.
In an interview with the Irish Daily Star,  Deadmau5 had this to say about today’s DJs:
It puts me to fucking sleep, to be quite honest; I don’t really see the technical merit in playing two songs at the same speed together and it bores me to fucking tears.
And, hopefully, with all due respect to the DJ type that will fucking go the way of the dinosaur, I’d like them to dis-a-fucking-pear!
It’s so middle man. They’re like fucking lawyers!. You need them, but they’re fucking cunts!
God bless them, they’re my number one customer, right, so I’m not gonna go dis every fucking DJ.
But to say you become this massive, “up on a podium” performer by playing other peoples productions, at the same speed as someone else’s productions and fading between the two of them, I don’t get it…
Is that any way to talk about your number one customer?
Zimmerman may not be silver-tongued,  but you know where he’s coming from.

DIY Deadmau5 Mask

Click here to view the embedded video.
This DIY Deadmau5 mask makes the usual toga/hobo/cowboy costume look pretty pathetic.
Everything is complicated, though, and this Deadmau5 mask is no exception. It uses a netduino micro-controller and a Bliptonics spectrum analyzer to listen to the audio played from any input. When no music is being played, the eyes will flash at 132 BPM. When music is on, the eyes flash to the beat of any strong bass sounds under 100mhz.
It’s powered by a set of 9v batteries.
If you’ve got a cool electronic music themed costume this year, let us know with a comment below!

This low-budget bit of animated weirdness, Deadmau5 vs. Jeff Mills’ Girlfriend, is profane and offensive, but also manages to have some pretty funny bits in it.
