Congratulations to ThereminWorld member MarbleMad on hitting the youtube home page yesterday withhis solar powered Altoids can theremin.
It may have rolled off by now, but was there long enough for three people I know to have seen it, and of course many more must have too.
Now they know the word Theremin and if one of them seeks further and gets hooked...

We know the non-tactile, space controlled instrument started with Lev.
But his principles are inspiring new interfaces perfect for music lovers who've mastered pantomiming in the air along with their favorite records.
The Air Piano by Omer Yosha uses infrared sensors to control other electronic instruments.

Many at TW have been aware of the popularity of the Theremin in Japan, and how it seems much greater, comparatively at least, than here in the States or Europe.
To further add to that impression, the Theremin was recently featured in a few pages of the manga "Nodame Cantabile"(wikipedia entry).
The ongoing story follows a music student, Megumi Noda, in her adventures with a strong mix of humor and romance.

Here's a fun little project created by a theremin fan in Japan. The theremin is built inside an original NES "Famicom" (Family Computer). It's probably not going to be very useful for an on-stage performance, but as a desktop theremin it does just fine.

Fans of the laser theremin, rejoice! Sharper Image is now taking orders for the beamz Music Performance System. Break the beams of light with your hands to trigger pre-sampled instruments, loops, and drum beats. According to the product manual, it is primarily a controller and must be connected to your PC (Windows XP or Vistas) via a USB cable in order to produce sound. beamz has 30 built-in collections of sounds/instruments, or "songs" for your playing pleasure.

Synthopiaspotted a wild wackypersonal theremin from Tim Kaiser.

The Classic GeigerPhone Theremin is based on a red phone and a geigercounter antenna. It's Kaiser's personaltheremin. It's also known as the Gphone, for reasons that should be obvious.
