Here's a fun time lapse video by MySpace user cabinneighbors building a PAiA Theremax theremin. I'm not sure it would help you with any construction questions, I have to admit there's something wildly satisfying about seeing a theremin being formed out of a bag of parts in just slightly over 4 minutes.

Congratulations to ThereminWorld member MarbleMad on hitting the youtube home page yesterday withhis solar powered Altoids can theremin.
It may have rolled off by now, but was there long enough for three people I know to have seen it, and of course many more must have too.
Now they know the word Theremin and if one of them seeks further and gets hooked...

Well maybe not exactly a steam theremin (at least not yet) but performance artist, and Art Institute of California faculty member, Lorin Edwin Parker did build a steam powered synthesizer, The Parker Steam Synthesizer.
As part of his UFO installation with artist Jay Stuckey, he built ten different custom theremins.
And for his latest Electric Western project, he built an all retro-tech tube theremin recreating as closely as possible Lev Termen's 1919 original.
Keeping a Do-It-Yourself approach to all his work, his projects have included a wide variety of unique apparatuses.

A new version of the B3 theremin with a fancy new cherry wood case and several new features has been released by Dan Burns.
Called the "B3 Pro Theremin" it is available at his web site. With TW member Thomas Grillo featured on video as spokesman.
Good going Dan, keep 'em coming.
Thanks to Jeff S for keeping us up to date in the

Art Harrison with his Theremin, photo: The Gazzette.net
It took Rockville Maryland's Arthur Harrison almost 20 years to perfect his custom theremin design, and like most of us many hours of work to master playing it.
Arthur has been turning heads and spreading the Theremin Word around MD performing solo at various venues, including informal ones like cafes and book stores, and as a member of the electronic music band The Cassettes.
He owns Harrison Instruments where he designs and sells several styles of theremins with a continuing commitment to refine Lev Termen's original design.

Japanese magazine "Otona no Kagaku" (Science for Adults) volume 17 has what appears to be a lengthy article on the theremin featuring Eri. It also includes a kit to build a miniature desktop theremin you can actually play! Check out videos of Masami Takeuchi rocking a demo and Lydia Kavina playing "What Child Is This?".
