Monday, Nov 3rd, was the 15th anniversary of Lev Termen's passing into the Aether. This has been such an historic week, I was not able to do him the honor of a memento until today. Gosh, 15 years already, that man changed our lives. We cannot let him be forgotten!
Hope you have a moment this week to think of him.
Keep On Playing!

Bob Moog

It does not seem like three years since Bob Moog left this world.
(May 23, 1934 – August 21, 2005)

His genius and spirit continue to speak to us in the instruments he built and in the many writings and recordings he left behind.

His foundation continues to preserve his legacy and his company Moog Music is still going strong making incredible instruments keeping Bob's constant intent that they must become a direct extension of the player.

Bob was the main reason the theremin survived into our time, by making instruments (he started his electronics career building theremins) and writing articles that helped other builders and many hobbyists get started making them.

Bob Moog

Without Bob Moog's fascination with the theremin and deep respect for it's players we might well not be here today discussing playing the aether.

Here's an excerpt from the Wikipedia entry for him:
""
Dr. Robert Arthur Moog (pronounced moug to rhyme with "vogue")
(May 23, 1934 – August 21, 2005)

Robert Moog constructed his own theremin as early as 1949.

Thursday, May 31, 2007
From The LOS ANGELES TIMES
""George Greeley, a pianist, conductor, composer and arranger who composed the theme music for television’s My Favorite Martian, has died. He was 89.
...
For My Favorite Martian, the 1963-66 sitcom in which Bixby’s newspaper-reporter character befriends the stranded Martian played by Walston, Greeley used an instrument called an electro-theremin to make the weird sci-fi-like sound every time the Martian’s antennae went up or he used his powers of levitation.""
His work was all over television at one time, and though it was an electro-theremin, aka tannerin, it added to the impact of one of my favorite shows.
