Resolved Question: What is the name of the sound effect used in the opening bars of Origa's "Inner Universe"?

Everyone who has seen "Ghost in the Shell" has noticed the joint effort of Yoko Kanno and Origa in the song "Inner Universe."

The opening of that song uses a strange sound effect. But since this sound effect can be made with a synthesizer, it is probably available as a named sound effect.

Does anyone know the name of this sound effect?

If I had to guess, it is probably a sound played backwards through an echo chamber. I don't know how many artists have used this sound.

The sound or instrument you hear in the first 7 seconds. Perhaps its made with a synthesizer or something. I want to know what the sound effect or instrument is called so I can use it in my own videos.

  • What do you have to do to produce the sound of a big cat roar (like a tiger, jaguar, whatever) on a guitar? What kind of settings, and how do you play it? Whammy bar? Lots of overdrive?

You can hear the kind of effect I'm referring to about a minute into the song "Big Money" by Rush, right after the line "big money make no sound." I'd love to know how to make that sound.

Also, on songfacts.com it says "In the first verse, what sounds like a guitar with a vibrato arm is actually Lee playing a PPG synthesizer with a guitar sound sampled into it." If that's the case, is it still possible to produce this sound with a guitar?

    Thanks! =)
The more details the better, please. Ideally I'd like a blow-by-blow how to. =)
