iPhone TouchOSC: Natasha and the Reject

iPhone TouchOSC: Natasha and the Reject from Natasha and the Reject on Vimeo.

"San Francisco-based group Natasha and the Reject, comprised of singer Natasha Adorlee Johnson and producer Alan Aronoff, perform the groups original track, "Counting Stars" while demonstrating how the TouchOSC iPhone application can be used to control video and sound.

TouchOSC was used as wireless OSC to MIDI controller in conjunction with Ableton Live and Resolume VJ Software. Natasha altered and mixed the visuals and sound live using the TouchOSC application on the iPhone.

All aspects of the performance demonstration, including effected sound and video processing, were done live. The top right hand shot clarifies Natasha's actions on the iPhone to control the performance.

  • TouchOSC and Ableton Live (Quick Test) from Craig Anthony Perkins on Vimeo.

"My first quick test of TouchOSC on my iPhone controlling Ableton Suite 8 (sorry for the poor lighting and camera quality; shot on an iPod Nano Video in a dark living room!)

This really makes me hope that Apple does release a 10 inch tablet/slate computer... can you imagine TouchOSC running on that!"

"A video covering the work I've been doing with TouchOSC and Ableton: a walkthrough explaining the cool bits I've done, and a guide to getting it set up yourself.

Sorry about the fuzziness of the iTouch: it's really hard to get reasonable video of a screen like that.

Apart from Ableton, Osculator and TouchOSC themselves, you can download all the code and templates in this tutorial from marshall-law.co.nz/dj-template/"
